Two national mining Associations agreed to cooperate Print E-mail

In the basis of same core value of the safety and environment and active role dedicated in mining industry in Mongolia by request from Mineral Industry Safety Association (MISA) to Mongolian National Mining Association (MNMA) two parties arranged a meeting to work and associate together to build broader activities and unite domestic and foreign invested mining companies operating in Mongolia.

Spate of Mercury Poisoning Continues Print E-mail

The Metropolitan Emergency Agency responded to another two cases of dangerous mercury levels in Ulaanbaatar during the past week. Waste water at the Bayan-Burd complex had up to five times more mercury than is standard, while some mercury was spilled at a local restaurant.

Mongolia fully banned use of mercury Print E-mail

G.Shiilegdamba Minister of Ministry of Nature & Environment made an order prohibiting the use of mercury for mining and extract minerals in Mongolian territory from 8 April 24, 2008. Artisanal mining in local using mercury used to polluting environment but lately large amount of mercury discovered from Chinese who are operating in metropolitan making hazard to environment and negative impact to human in the city.

Khongor residents demand re-testing Print E-mail

Environmental groups and citizens criticized the preliminary conclusions into pollution levels in the Khongor soum this week, saying they were wrong. The World Health Organization last week revealed that pollution levels in Khongor, located in the Darkhan-Uul aimag, were normal and not the cause of animal deaths and a series of unexplained miscarriages among women.
